MOA Senior Advisor Bi Meijia met with Ugandan Minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja in Kampala during Bi's visit to Uganda on 1-3 August 2017. They signed the MOU on promoting the development of China-Uganda agricultural demonstration park.

Mr. Bi Meijia, also a Member of CPC Leading Group of MOA, stated that China and Uganda enjoy traditional friendship and strong complementarities in agriculture. The two sides have carried out a number of practical cooperation projects with fruitful results. The China-aided Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in Uganda has undertaken a great deal of training, demonstration and trial activities, emerging as an important demonstration platform for research, training, cultivation and feed processing in freshwater aquaculture. China is willing to further practical cooperation with Uganda to uplift bilateral agricultural cooperation to a new high.

The Ugandan side thanked China for its strong support for agricultural development in Uganda, noting that the South-South Cooperation (SSC) projects implemented by China have greatly increased grain output and farmer's income in Uganda. China's assistance has been well received by local people and highly lauded by Ugandan governments at various levels. Uganda hopes for greater assistance from China to boost local agricultural development.

During its stay in Uganda, the Chinese delegation also met with agricultural experts implementing the SSC projects in Uganda and visited some project sites.
